Somewhere around six months, babies work out that bath time is negotiable. They arch, they grab the edge, and what used to take four minutes takes fifteen.
The fix is almost never a shorter bath. It is giving them something to do in it.
Eight cups, in sizes that sit inside each other. They fill them, tip them, and watch the water drizzle back out — which at that age is genuinely the most interesting thing happening anywhere. While they are busy with that, you can actually wash them.
Afterwards the cups stack into a tower, and the tower gets knocked over, and that is fine — knocking it over is the other half of the game. When you are done they nest back down into a single stack about the size of one cup, and sit inside the folded tub.
